                        Take a Break........Try a Welsh Cob Trail!

Treat yourself to a weekend break with a difference and try a new approach to riding. There is something fundamentally different about riding at Cwmfforest, nothing ever happens on flat ground! Here you will experience total enjoyment from the horse / rider partnership - something to do with the Welsh Cob being the best breed for the job.

Weekend breaks start late Friday* where guests usually arrive around 6pm although we keep a welcome in the hills far into the night. The programme is designed to be an introduction to a system of riding which uses the horse as the ultimate all-terrain vehicle.

Itinerary:

Friday:  Guests arrive in time for dinner at 8pm and meet the other guests.

Saturday:
everyone participates in catching, grooming and tacking up their chosen horse; a few useful tips on technique are offered and we leave the yard a.s.a.p - 5 miles of valley trails brings us to a friendly village inn for our lunch stop. In the afternoon your horse will teach you a thing or two about hill climbing. High above the tree-line the views are staggering. Feel the immediate difference of horses on their way home and learn a bit about horse psychology.

On arriving back at Cwmfforest, we water the horses, and then have a refreshing cup of tea. After tea, the horses are fed and turned out and we clean the tack. Dinner is served around 7:30 p.m. after which a visit to one of our local pubs nicely rounds off the day.

The Castle Inn at Pengenffordd - Our local inn.

Sunday is designed to be a more adventurous ride, maybe totaling 20 miles. Frequent canters soon cover the extra distance to another friendly rural inn before a superb gallop on the way home taking routes along more open mountain tracks.  After your ride we round off the weekend with tea and cake before you leave. You can be away from Cwmfforest by around 6pm. Our horses are always happy and enjoy their work and play immensely. We are sure you will also feel truly refreshed after just a couple of days away and would like to consider one of our full length trail rides in the near future!

*In summer months (April/May to September) the Trail Riding Weekend runs from Saturday evening to Monday evening and can only be booked during the 2 weeks before the holiday date. We can be flexible on arrival / departure times and evening meals. Please phone to confirm your requirements.
