In the final programme of the series, John Sparkes visits the Red Lion in
Llanafan Fawr. First mentioned in 1188 when the travelling monk Gerald of
Wales is recorded as staying there, it is reputedly the oldest pub in Wales,
if not the British Isles

Holidays with an international feel within the British borders - from a Thai
spa in New Forest to the Orient in Manchester
Flights EasyJet flies in to Bristol Airport which is about 2 hours from Cwmfforest. BMIbaby flies to Cardiff Airport which is about 1.5 hours from Cwmfforest. When flying to either Bristol or Cardiff, there are regular buses running from outside the airport to take you to the main bus station in the city centre and likewise from the city centre to the airport. From there it is easy to get either a train or bus to Abergavenny (via Newport if coming from Bristol).
Train National Rail Trains from Newport or Cardiff to Abergavenny.
Buses National Express Has bus service from Bristol to Newport. Does not have a service to Abergavenny Stagecoach Buses Has a bus service from Cardiff Central to Abergavenny. They also have a regular service from Bristol to Newport where you need to change buses to take you on to Abergavenny.
Car Hire
Once in Abergavenny there is a Taxi rank right outside the train Station. They know us at Cwmfforest and will be happy to bring you here.
